An Evangelical Leader Whines About Same-Sex...
Tony Perkins, who’s the head of the Family Research Council, has complained in his radio show about Bioware’s MMO ‘Star Wars: The Old Republic’ because it allows same-sex relationships between characters.  He claimed that “In a new Star Wars game, the biggest threat to the empire may be homosexual activists!” and that  Star Wars gamers have gone over to the...

O.k, enough with the celebrity worship!
Before I get into this, please be aware that I don’t fail to realize that a lot of people are just having fun with this… But as with everything, some others take it to ridiculous extremes and I want to address it.   Now, since I’ve joined the wonderful and often creepy world of internet blogging, I’ve had the chance to read interesting articles and thoughts, been...

Bruno's Movie Suggestion: The Princess Bride
‘The Princess Bride’ is an amazing fairy tale of love and swashbuckling adventure. It is full of heart and humor, memorable characters and incredible sword fighting scenes, choreographed by sword master Bob Anderson, who sadly passed away recently at the age of 89. For those who don’t know about Bob Anderson, he was the fighting stunt double for Darth Vader in the original...

Bruno's Geek Reviews: Interview With Candy Keane!
This graduate from the University of Florida with a degree in magazine journalism has become a professional model, cosplayer, costumier and boutique owner. Everyone, meet Candy Keane! Q- One thing I noticed while looking at your work is that in some cases you’ll be extremely faithful to every little detail of a character’s original look, while some other times you’ll change it...

Starting a new D&D Campaign!
Ah, the magical moment when you start a new campaign you’ll be DMing…   Since my three players are all new at tabletop role-playing games, I decided to use the ‘Castles & Crusades’ rules. C&C is basically a ‘retro clone’ of D&D, very rules-light. I haven’t actually played it yet (last night we got the character sheets ready and we’ll...

Bruno's Movie Suggestion: Life of Brian
When it comes to Monty Python movies, everyone thinks of the Holy Grail. In my opinion though, THIS is the best movie the Monty Python ever made! One of my all-time favorite comedies. And surprise, surprise, there’s some social commentary to be found again. I guess it really is a pattern with me.   The commentary in this one is on religion, as this movie follows an unwilling and...

ealperin asked: Wait, did you go to the Montreal Comic Con in 2009? Because I was at the Hyatt down in Montreal. There was a Sci-Fi con across the street that I didn't get a chance to go to, though. :(

Bruno's Geek Reviews: Interview With Marie-Claude...
A successful model and costume designer from the province of Quebec in Canada, Marie-Claude Bourbonnais also happens to be a proud geek and is well-known in many conventions around the world as a professional cosplayer. I am very happy to have her for the very first interview at Bruno’s Geek Reviews and I think you’ll find her answers honest and fun. Q- Some would say you’re...

Bruno's Movie Suggestion: Old Boy
Think of this as a contemporary equivalent to ‘Count of Monte Cristo’. In fact there’s even a wink to that story in the movie, but while both can be compared for their similar themes at times, ‘Old Boy’ is its own mystery and revenge epic, not a remake or copy of any kind. I use the word ‘epic’ to describe this film because that is how it feels. While...

A Review of 'Doctor Who: Worlds in Time'
Doctor Who: Worlds in Time   I wish I could tell you this game is a lot of fun and has the charm of the t.v show, but it isn’t and it doesn’t. And my love for everything ‘Who’ is so huge that for that I am sorry… I am so, so sorry. (See what I did there?) But I have to be honest here.   This idea in itself had a lot of potential and maybe it’ll be done right...

Here are my three generally unpopular opinions on...
Donna Noble is my favorite companion. I never understood why the Doctor fell in love with someone as common as Rose Tyler. I never understood how the Doctor could fall in love with Rose but not be utterly amazed by Martha Jones, who proved herself to be much smarter and more on his level than Rose ever did.

Bruno's Movie Suggestion: Amarcord
This week’s movie suggestion is my favorite Fellini film, ‘Amarcord’. When looking at this movie and my last suggestion, ‘Seven Samurai’, I’ve realized that I like movies that have something to say about people and how they behave, a deep understanding of human nature.   Set in Fascist Italy, this movie is both dark and light-hearted at the same time....
