Tony Perkins, who’s the head of the Family Research Council, has complained in his radio show about Bioware’s MMO ‘Star Wars: The Old Republic’ because it allows same-sex relationships between characters.

 He claimed that “In a new Star Wars game, the biggest threat to the empire may be homosexual activists!” and that  Star Wars gamers have gone over to the Dark Side.

  Now, I could start complaining about what an intolerant idiot that guy is, but all over the Internet a lot of people are already doing that.

  Instead, I’ll use my nitpicky geek skills to point out something: Does that guy realize that the Imperials are the bad guys in Star Wars? If “the biggest threat to the empire may be homosexual activists!” then it implies that the Republic’s soldiers elite consists of a platoon of gay activists or something along those lines… And since the Republic is the good team in Star Wars, that puts them under a good light.

  It also implies he’s on the side of the Empire since it’s the one he seems worried about. It makes sense, all that intolerance…

  So Mr. Perkins, if you’re gonna bash something while trying to sound witty by referring its fictional universe, at least try to do your homework? Loser…
