I’m really hoping they’ll cast Gina Carano as Wonder Woman. I’m sure many actresses would do great jobs on the general acting side, but anyone playing Wonder Woman needs to convince me that she IS a warrior. I’m tired of seeing girls chosen for action roles only because they’re cute. They unconvincingly throw poor-looking punches that are semi-salvaged by tricky editing and they make silly faces that they think is a face they should make while doing so. Let me see a Wonder Woman who is good-looking AND doesn’t require me to suspend my disbelief to take her seriously.
O.k people, let’s get one thing clear; Captain America is NOT Marvel’s equivalent to Batman. Black Panther is Marvel’s equivalent to Batman! I don’t mean that any of those characters is another’s rip-off, I just mean that if any of the Marvel characters from the main Marvel continuity best mirrored Batman, it would be T’Challa. Don’t believe me? Go read Christopher Priest’s run on Black Panther! Their personalities are not the same, yet they have a LOT in common. I could really see them teaming up and getting along. They both tend to act superior when dealing with other heroes, but I think those two would respect each other almost instantly. They would agree on strategies to take, on gadgets to design, on how to sneak inside a villain’s base, they’re both really serious… And let’s face it, their respective designs do have some similarities.
Tim Drake doesn’t exist in the New 52. Instead we have an inferior character with an inferior origin story running around using Tim’s name, courtesy of mediocre writer Scott Lobdell. (Yep, I said it!) Tim Drake pre-New 52 was one of my favorite comic-book characters. And now he’s gone, he doesn’t exist anymore. I am actually, genuinely angry at DC comics and Scott Lobdell for showing so little respect for one of the greatest characters they had. Having the great works of Chuck Dixon, Geoff Johns and Fabian Nicieza voided and replaced by these insultingly bad stories is something I’m not going to get over anytime soon.
It’s official; DC has messed up, Batman’s New 52 continuity makes no sense. For the first time EVER, I’m actually going to go with my own headcannon while reading new stories. I have never done such a thing before, but since the official version can’t even stand to the slightest logical scrutiny, I’m left with no other choice.
I can’t wait for the Bruce Wayne-related issues #0! :D
