I just realized something that I find a bit ironic… Zorro was an inspiration for the creation of Batman, both in the real world and the in fictional DC Universe. The night Bruce Wayne’s parents were killed, Bruce and them had just come out of the movie theater after watching a Zorro movie, and it’s been often implied that this influenced the young Bruce to one day become a masked vigilante himself.
But Batman isn’t that much like Zorro, once you remove the mask, cape, wealth and secret lair in a cave. Sure they have all those things in common, but Zorro was a smiling daredevil, doing acrobatics, smiling, teasing his opponents and catching them off-guard, loving the attention…
Now, which character in the Bat-Family most reminds you of these characteristics? That’s right! Dick Grayson, the original Robin, now known as Nightwing! Just food for thought.
